Manager, Government Affairs

The Global Business Alliance (GBA) is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated professional with at least three years’ worth of experience to help manage its government affairs programming. The Manager of Government Affairs will play a central role in planning, scheduling, and executing GBA’s government affairs programming—including gubernatorial roundtables, CEO Leadership Council events, and congressional caucus briefings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and manage government affairs programming end-to-end, including logistics, venue coordination, run-of-show, and attendee management for membership meetings, CEO-level events, gubernatorial roundtables, and Capitol Hill advocacy days
  • Partner with internal teams (communications, membership, events) to deliver organizational excellence and enhance member value
  • Own the scheduling, logistics, and execution of a recurring calendar of educational briefings and programming for federal policymakers, tracking deliverables and deadlines across multiple simultaneous events
  • Manage member outreach workflows and track engagement activities to support GBA’s advocacy programming at the state and federal level
  • Coordinate joint programming and scheduling with peer business associations, think tanks, and external partners; maintain shared calendars and project timelines

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of experience in program coordination, government affairs, or an equivalent political campaign position; experience managing multi-stakeholder events or complex scheduling is preferred over a purely policy-focused background
  • Experience with or a strong interest in project management, political grassroots engagement, fundraising, or campaign initiatives
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with exacting attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Strong organizational skills, with excellent follow-through and a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Assist Events Team with all in-person and virtual event planning and execution:
  • -Tracking RSVPs, setting up and archiving events in Cvent
    -Supporting recurring policy call logistics via WebEx
    -Recording and logging attendance for all events to analyze membership engagement
  • Assist with the planning of GBA’s Annual Dinner gala:
  • -Monitoring swag bag donations and preparing descriptions for final program
    -Pulling sponsor reports from survey portal and entering details into spreadsheet
    -Providing registration support in advance and onsite at the event
  • Apply now for the following terms:
  • Spring: January-April, up to 20 hours per week
  • Summer: May-August, up to 30 hours per week Fall: September-December, up to 20 hours per week $17.50 per hour

This internship is open to college college junior, senior or graduate students with excellent organizational, research and writing skills with Microsoft Office proficiency. Customer relationship/association management software skills, particularly experience using Salesforce and Cvent, are a plus! This is a partially remote position; you will be provided a GBA laptop for working remotely but will be required to be able to work in the GBA office on Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays.
