State funding to boost new Bosch Rexroth apprenticeship program

The money will help support an apprenticeship program launched in October by the engineering firm and hydraulics manufacturer.

The Bosch Rexroth apprenticeship program is geared towards recent college graduates with degrees in engineering or related fields who are hired to work for the company.

The program helps create a succession plan for people in specific positions that require specialized knowledge.

Bosch Rexroth will identify positions that would benefit from succession training by looking ahead to the next two to five years. It will then work with area universities and career and technology centers to identify possible successors among graduating college students.

The company said it will then pair those successors with mentors to learn the skills they will need to fill those positions.

The grant comes from the PAsmart initiative, which includes a $10 million investment in apprenticeships and job training.

Gov. Tom Wolf said the state is supporting job training opportunities to fill jobs being left behind by retiring baby boomers.

“As Pennsylvania’s workforce ages, we need to support companies that are developing innovative solutions to training younger talent,” Governor Wolf said.
