Nancy McLernon, president and CEO of the Global Business Alliance, today issued the following statement in response to the introduction of the Unfair Tax Prevention Act:
“As we have long said, congressional involvement is essential to the long-term viability of any global tax deal. Ironically, to address concerns over other countries moving forward with what they describe as a ‘surtax on American workers and businesses,’ some Ways and Means members have proposed exactly the same. The Unfair Tax Prevention Act is a misguided approach that targets international companies employing millions of American workers across the United States. These jobs pay an average of $85,000 in wages and benefits – well above the national average. Simply put, this is a tax on American growth.”
