DENSO: Building Talent From The Ground Up

DENSO, a global automotive technology leader, is investing in the future of its workforce through a range of early career development programs in the United States. Its College Program offers internships and co-ops for students in engineering, computer science and business, providing hands-on experience, mentorship, and potential pathways to full-time employment. For production and skilled-trade employees, DENSO emphasizes safety, leadership and process improvement through extensive on-the-job training.

Recognizing the growing shortage of skilled trade professionals, DENSO’s Battle Creek, Michigan, facility launched a pilot program targeting high school students with mechanical aptitude. The initiative, developed in partnership with the Calhoun County Career Center, offers students real-world exposure to industrial trades, job shadowing with journeymen and formal training at DENSO’s North Technical Training Center. The program’s success, highlighted by participant Conner Swan’s continued employment, has inspired plans for expansion. By bridging education and industry, DENSO is creating meaningful opportunities for young professionals to explore and grow within the skilled trades.
