Diageo North America: Investing to Train and Create Opportunities for the Hospitality Workforce

Diageo is a leading manufacturer of distilled spirits and beer, with an outstanding collection of historic global and renowned American brands, which include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Bulleit and Buchanan’s whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Casamigos, DeLeon and Don Julio tequilas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Tanqueray and Guinness.

These products help support over 178,000 jobs and over $12 billion in annual revenue for restaurants, bars and small businesses in the U.S.

Our Learning Skills for Life program has been operating in North America for over a decade. The program offers free basic hospitality and job skills, helping bring underemployed workers into local establishments and onto tracks of entrepreneurship.

We partner with local and national nonprofits including Goodwill of Kentucky, the National Urban League, New Orleans Hospitality Institute, the Washington Literacy Center and Young Women’s Christian Association to administer the program in the U.S. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Learning Skills for Life currently operates in nine locations: Baltimore, Chicago, D.C., Houston, New Orleans, Louisville, St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

Since its inception in the U.S., over 8,000 individuals have been trained through this program, with over 300 participants completing it in summer of 2025 alone.
