Through global connections, international companies from allied countries can help innovate America’s manufacturing of semiconductors. The U.S. must welcome companies from these countries to invest here, which would create jobs for Americans to manufacture chips in the USA. International investment in the U.S. semiconductors and other electronic components sector saw explosive growth from 2015 to 2020 at 275 percent. The current chip shortage shows how vulnerable our supply chains are to even minor global disruptions; it’s in America’s vital interest to mitigate our supply chain vulnerabilities by ramping up our domestic manufacturing capacity.
