FDI in the United States, Quarter Four 2021

Foreign direct investment in the United States totaled $125 billion in the fourth-quarter 2021, the strongest quarter over several years. Net equity flows were down by nearly 20 percent to $50 billion in fourth-quarter 2021 from the previous quarter. Reinvestment of earnings were up by five percent over third-quarter 2021 and at $61 billion, accounted for nearly half of FDIUS flows this past quarter.
