The Global Business Alliance (GBA) is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Membership Associate to support the daily operations of our Membership team. The right candidate will have a strong customer service approach and be self-motivated, have a keen eye for detail and the ability to multitask and complete their work in a timely manner.

The Associate of Membership supports GBA’s strategic initiatives, business development efforts, and membership services. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Membership to manage the organization’s membership database, oversee renewal cycles, conduct data analysis, and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for global business and related issues.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Membership Database Management:

  • Maintain and update membership contact database through regular coordination with primary contacts at GBA member companies.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across all databases.

Strategic Research & Data Analysis:

  • Conduct research and analyze data to support strategic initiatives and membership retention efforts.
  • Translate data insights into clear summaries to support internal decision-making.

Membership Renewal & Payments:

  • Manage GBA’s annual membership renewal cycle, maintain clear internal tracking of payment and renewal statuses and flag risks or delays in a timely manner.
  • Process POs in supplier portals and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding dues.

New Member Onboarding:

  • Lead the onboarding process for new GBA members, including collecting compliance information and company and user contact details, facilitating the payment process, and guiding member engagement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for questions and ensure a consistent and high-quality onboarding experience.

Prospective-Member Engagement:

  • Research and identify potential new members aligned with GBA priorities.
  • Build, maintain, and regularly update an accurate prospect pipeline in Salesforce, including engagement tracking.
  • Support outreach efforts by preparing background briefs, company summaries, and engagement context to inform senior-level conversations.

Communications & Email Campaigns:

  • Execute targeted email campaigns and surveys to collect data and address membership needs.
  • Analyze survey results to improve membership services and inform organizational strategy.

Stakeholder Relationship Management:

  • Support the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with member companies, prospective members, service providers, diplomatic contacts, and other associations and organizations.
  • Represent GBA at external functions such as member company receptions, embassy events, and think tank gatherings.

Cross-Team Support:

  • Collaborate with the Events and Advocacy teams to support cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in special assignments, including event logistics, content creation, and outreach, on an as-needed basis as requested by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least one year of experience in membership services, business development, or marketing. Business or trade association experience is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency using Salesforce, email marketing platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with survey creation, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Demonstrated interest in global business and related policy issues.
  • Team player with high professionalism and a collaborative spirit.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in anticipating project needs.
  • High ethical standards and respect for confidentiality.

The Global Business Alliance (GBA) is seeking a take-charge professional with at least a year of related experience to provide government affairs support in a fun and dynamic environment. The Associate of Government Affairs will play a significant role in GBA’s advocacy efforts, helping to implement the government affairs strategy and working as part of a team to achieve favorable results for GBA’s members.

A successful candidate will have a strong interest in policies impacting global businesses, including U.S. macroeconomic trends and geopolitical awareness, as well as a demonstrated understanding of the legislative process and excellent analytical and writing skills. This candidate should be a strategic thinker, capable of anticipating project needs and meeting deadlines with high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Work closely with our state and federal lobbyists by implementing GBA’s research projects and preparing briefing and background materials
  • Daily drafting of legislative correspondence, letters, talking points, testimony and GBA member alerts
  • Manage advocacy correspondence with Capitol Hill and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze legislation of importance to GBA members, such as tax, trade, investment, national security, appropriations, lobbying disclosure and campaign finance
  • Track congressional activity such as hearings, press releases and documents to inform GBA’s advocacy efforts
  • Manage an online database of congressional engagement and activity as it pertains to GBA’s advocacy efforts
  • Participate in planning, coordinating and executing of government affairs related events including membership meetings, the Economic Advisory Council and lobby days
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for all government affairs projects and events
  • Build surveys to gather information from GBA membership and inform GBA advocacy efforts
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least a year of related experience interning or working for a Member of Congress, trade association, or government affairs firm
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex issues into clear messages that resonate
  • Proactive organizational skills, with excellent follow-through and a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
  • Solid interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in U.S. politics and macroeconomic issues
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other related software
  • Familiarity with Government Affairs tools such as Bloomberg Government and Quorum a plus
